Like a lot of small businesses, Avo Maria was first a dream.

For Toronto native and Certified Holistic Nutritionist, Elisa Caracciolo, that dream meant ridding the acne that had long plagued her self-esteem.

It was in facing her struggles when Elisa began studying the human body and its symbiotic bond with nature. If you’d asked her then, she’d have told you there had to be a better way to treat wayward skin than with over-the-counter pills.

Before she knew it, Elisa began concocting her own cleansing solutions with simple, yet powerful ingredients. Through trial and error, avocado oil and rice water cemented themselves as her mainstays among all the ones she’d choose to use (hence the former’s presence in all Avo Maria products).

Elisa tested her custom blends on herself and in little time, her visage would see a radiant glow where there was once chronic acne.
